SCS No.1 - The Beginners' Guide to Meditation

LuxeGirls are self-aware and one way to get there is through a regular routine of self-reflection and deep focus using meditation as a tool! Meditation is a practice that involves training your mind to focus on the present moment and be more aware of your thoughts and feelings. It has been shown to have numerous benefits, including reducing stress, improving concentration, and promoting feelings of peace and well-being.

Make the most of your meditation journey with pieces from our B R E A T H E collection HERE.

Here's a beginner's guide to meditation:

  1. Choose a quiet, comfortable place to meditate. Find a place where you won't be disturbed and where you can sit comfortably, either on a cushion or a chair.

  2. Set a time limit. When you're starting out, it can be helpful to set a timer for five or ten minutes. As you become more comfortable with meditation, you can gradually increase the amount of time you spend meditating.

  3. Sit in a comfortable position. You can sit cross-legged on a cushion or sit on a chair with your feet flat on the ground. The most important thing is to find a position that allows you to be comfortable and relaxed.

  4. Focus on your breath. Close your eyes and bring your attention to your breath. Notice the sensation of the air moving in and out of your body. You can count your breaths if it helps you to stay focused.

  5. Observe your thoughts. As you meditate, thoughts will inevitably come into your mind. When this happens, simply observe the thought without judgment and then bring your attention back to your breath.

  6. Practice regularly. Meditation is like any other skill – the more you practice, the better you become. Try to meditate every day, even if it's just for a few minutes.

  7. Be patient with yourself. It's normal to find it difficult to focus at first, and you may feel restless or distracted. Don't worry – this is completely normal. With practice, you'll find it easier to stay focused and calm during meditation.

As with any other "exercise", your comfort with meditation will increase as you continue to be consistent with incorporating meditation into your daily routine.

You can start as small as needed to introduce this practice into your daily routine. We created a playlist of guided meditation tracks to help you ease into the practice!
